Smart designers know how to ask for help. Design Retreat is a special two-day workshop for design professionals who want to do both. Think of it as an entrepreneurial detox. We are going to eliminate confusion and frustration by calling in the experts to help you reinvigorate your business and transform your perspective.
Instead of a charmless conference center or sterile meeting room, the retreat will be held at the beautiful Harbor Hill estate on Long Island September 26 to 28. I’m calling on a few accomplished friends to cover a range of industry topics—from client relations and contracts to marketing strategies and new revenue streams. And since we’re getting personal, Design Retreat is also about discovering ways to stay healthy, mindful and avoid burnout.

As a designer, I have long appreciated the opportunities that I’ve been given, but running a business is hard, and we all have to help each other navigate the industry’s shifts and changes. Even after three decades of being an interior designer, I still don’t know everything…and I am happy to admit that! So, I’ve created this weekend as a way to talk about business, strategy, challenges and new ways of working. We are inviting a small group of 10 designers to get real and join in, and maybe have some drinks by the pool.
